Australia Day Honours for UOW alumni, staff, community members
Immense contribution to community and service to others acknowledged in prestigious list
ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp of ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp (UOW) alumni and community members have been recognised for their contributions to society and their outstanding achievements in their respective fields as part of the 2024 Australia Day Honours List.
UOW Deputy Chancellor Warwick Shanks was among those included on the prestigious annual list, honoured with a Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division (OAM) for his contributions to business and the wider community.
Two impressive young alumni have also been honoured in local council awards, marking their role as rising stars in their surrounding communities.
Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Patricia M Davidson congratulated the alumni and members of the wider UOW community for their awards.
“Congratulations to the exceptional UOW alumni and community members who have earned well-deserved recognition this year. Your dedication and passion for your communities shine bright, inspiring us all to reach for new heights,” Professor Davidson said.

Dr Paul Browning Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division (OAM) for his service to education
Patricia Barone Public Service Medal in the General Division (PSM) for outstanding public service to the local government sector and Resilient Sydney
Ronald Miller Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division (OAM) for service to the community of Gundaroo
Warwick Shanks Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division (OAM) for his contributions to business and the community through a range of organisations
Captain Roger Fonhof RAN Conspicuous Service Medal (CSM) for devotion to duty to the Royal Australian Navy in the field of workforce development and personnel management
Professor Fiona Wood AM Officer of the Order of Australia in the General Division (AO) for distinguished service to plastic and reconstructive surgery, to medical research, and as clinician scientist and mentor
Catherine Livingstone AO Companion of the Order of Australia in the General Division (AC) for eminent service to business, particularly through governance and strategic reform, to tertiary education, to science, technology and innovation capability development, and to the arts
Commodore Peter Leavy CSM RAN Member of the Order of Australia in the Military Division (AM) for exceptional service to the Australian Defence Force in senior command positions

Imogen Clarke Shoalhaven City Council Australia Day Young Citizen of the Year Medal for commitment to and encouraging youth participation, in local agricultural shows, and active involvement in volunteer work and musical theatre
Oliver Spake Shellharbour Council Support Superstar for his immense contribution to and volunteer work with Shellharbour Parkrun, which brings hundreds of community members together each week
