Early Start shines a light on future research leaders in early childhood and development

Inaugural event will celebrate innovative research within education, psychology and health sectors

Future research leaders in early childhood and development will have their talent on display at the inaugural Early Start Higher Degree Research Showcase at the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp of ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp (UOW) on Monday 20 November.

The event will celebrate innovative new research by Higher Degree Research (HDR) scholars from UOW’s Early Start and is a unique opportunity to showcase research within education, psychology and health sectors.

Early Start’s said the research featured at the two-hour event will be diverse.

“We’d love to see as many people as possible join us at this exciting event to support our future research leaders and celebrate the great work being done at Early Start for a brighter future for young children,” Dr Strooband said.

“The showcase will feature diverse research from innovative teaching pedagogies to the complexities of young children’s language learning, from interaction patterns to the development of assessment measures.”

UOW’s Early Start is a dynamic research centre dedicated to transforming outcomes for children, their families, and communities through innovative, multidisciplinary research.

The research entity’s latest event was planned by a working group of Early Start HDR scholars, with the support of Dr Strooband and the Director of Early Start Research, .

“It’s a unique opportunity to inspire, enlighten and foster dialogue around the pivotal role of higher degree research in shaping the future of the early childhood field,” Dr Strooband said.

The Early Insights: Early Start Higher Degree Research Showcase will be followed by a about conducting overseas research, with panellists including Distinguished Professor , , Professor and Professor Kervin.

Dr Strooband said the day is not just about showcasing research, but also about providing opportunities to develop the skills and knowledge of HDR scholars.

“We’ll have the showcase, seminar, panel discussions and workshops to provide invaluable enrichments for our scholars,” Dr Strooband said.

“It’s important to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of HDR scholars within the education sector and to highlight the crucial role they play in the early childhood development space.”
