UOW improves in young university rankings

Research citations and teaching reputation among key performing indicators

The Ƶapp of Ƶapp (UOW) has jumped three places to rank 23rd in the world in the 2021 Times Higher Education (THE) Young Universities Ranking released on Wednesday 23 June.

UOW’s excellent research citations score and improvements to its research and teaching reputation scores played an important role in elevating UOW’s rank globally. It was also reflected in the recent THE Impact Rankings where the Ƶapp ranked 6th in the world for its commitment to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The rankings agency uses 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparisons. These are grouped into five areas: Teaching; Research; Citations; International outlook; and Industry income.

UOW Vice-Chancellor Professor Patricia M. Davidson said the rankings reflect UOW’s work as a leading research-intensive university.

“These rankings are a direct indication of UOW’s research, teaching and innovation work done by our talented academics and researchers,” Professor Davidson said.

“UOW will continue its focus on making progress through strategic partnerships, cutting-edge innovation and providing a world class learning and teaching environment.”
