UOW College Australia expands testing options.

People who need to demonstrate English language proficiency for work, study or migration, are now the first in regional Australia able to do so via computer, without travelling to a capital city.

From Wednesday January 30, UOW College Australia will offer computer-delivered International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exams at the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp of ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp campus.

UOW College has been a testing centre for IELTS—the world’s most widely accepted standardised English language test—since the early 90’s, conducting the exam via conventional means for over 30,000 people.

Future test candidates will enjoy greater flexibility in testing times and a shorter wait for results thanks to the electronic delivery option.

UOW College Australia’s IELTS Test Centre Manager, Scott Allford, said: “We are proud to be the first Australian test centre outside a capital city to offer computer-delivered IELTS.

“The IELTS test comprises listening, reading, writing and speaking tests.

“From 30 January, computer-delivered IELTS will be offered in ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with the possibility of increasing tests to seven days a week.

“All components will now be conducted on the same day, allowing candidates the flexibility to undertake the IELTS exam when they want, complete it in one day, and receive their results within five to seven days,” Mr Allford said.

ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp is a major regional hub attracting many international students and workers needing to sit a recognised English test for migration or professional reasons.

“Being able to offer quick results for IELTS tests is not only a plus for our test candidates, but also benefits the organisations relying on these results such as universities, private employers or government institutions,” he said.

Those undertaking the test in ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp will now have the choice between taking IELTS via computer or doing the conventional paper-based test.

The listening, reading and writing test components will be computer based, with the speaking test still conducted face-to-face with a certified and experienced IELTS examiner.

The price for the computer-delivered exam will be the same as the paper-based IELTS test.
