Creatives shine at annual exhibit

Osmosis by definition, is the process of gradual or unconscious assimilation of ideas and knowledge. And that is exactly what the annual UOW (ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp of ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp) graduate multimedia, graphic art and art exhibition draws together.

The exhibition titled Osmosis brings out an array of amazing art pieces from final year students of the Bachelor of Creative Arts (both Visual Arts and Graphic Design), the Bachelor of Digital Media, and the Bachelor of Communication and Media.

The eclectic works show off a multiplicity of creative, conceptual and material processes through textiles, sculpture, photography, painting, video and installation art. Graphic Design presents a wide variety of print-based and web-based projects that explore branding and communication, whilst Media Arts stages an exciting range of explorations using media technologies to offer audience members new experiences of interactive, 3D and 4D environments.

Works include a mix-mash edit of film clips from the 1950’s, a series of rabbits made from felt, large canvases of soot with impressions of the half-naked artist who produced them, to a fantastic collection of graphic posters teaching the basics of the Japanese language.

Dr Jo Law, a senior lecturer of New Media at UOW, said that Osmosis is a significant occasion for the final year students and marks a transition from undergraduate studies to deploying their practical, conceptual, creative and technical abilities in the real world.

“Every year I’m blown away with the amount of talent we have at UOW," Dr Law said.

"There really is just some standout work this year."

The Osmosis Exhibition runs from 25th November to 13th December 2019
