Learning for life participant shines at UOW College

Aishe Fazli awarded full scholarship for commitment to learning.

A desire to help others and a commitment to learning has led to a full Diploma of Nursing scholarship for Warrawong High School graduate Aishe Fazli.

Now three weeks into the UOW College’s Diploma of Nursing, Aishe has high hopes for a career in nursing, after being exposed to the health and nursing industry by other members of her family.

“I’ve always wanted to help others and it sounds cheesy but it’s actually true,” she said.

“I started my Cert III in Nursing in the first year of Year 12 and having that experience where you’re helping others and benefiting other people’s lives is amazing.”

For the majority of her school years, Aishe participated in the Smith Family’s Learning for Life program.

The Learning for Life program aims to improve the educational outcomes of disadvantaged young Australians by providing financial assistance from a sponsor towards education costs, support from a Learning for Life Program Coordinator and access to The Smith Family educational programs to help students make the most of their school years.

As a direct result of consistent high attendance and outstanding grades, The Smith Family recommended Aishe for a full scholarship to complete the Diploma of Nursing at UOW College.

The scholarship was funded by UOW College in partnership with .

VIEW is The Smith Family's largest community sponsor of Learning for Life students, supporting the educational outcomes of more than 1,200 disadvantaged children and young people.

Aishe said she is grateful for the personal and financial support she has received so far from the UOW College and Smith Family.

“It relieves a lot of stress and lets me put my focus on my nursing studies,” she said.

“The support is continuous and I will be forever grateful, hopefully that shows through my contribution to my studies.”
