Professor Paul Wellings reappointed as Vice-Chancellor
UOW's Professor Paul Wellings CBE has been invited to continue in the role of Vice-Chancellor until 31 December 2020.
The ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp’s Chancellor, Ms Jillian Broadbent AO, said that Council was pleased to reappoint Professor Wellings and acknowledged the key role he has played in the continued development of the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp and the higher education sector more broadly.
“Since 2012, Professor Wellings has helped transform the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp and the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp of ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp Council is delighted that he has agreed to lead the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp for a further period,” she said. “Paul Wellings brings a wealth of experience to the role, having been a Vice-Chancellor in the UK and Australia. The ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp of ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp has made great progress under his leadership and he will continue to build our global reputation and implement our strategic plan over the next five years.”
Professor Wellings said that he was honoured to continue in his role.
“I am pleased to have the opportunity to work with an outstanding academic and student community. The ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp has made great strides in the past decade and we have large ambitions ahead of us. We have an outstanding reputation as one of the best research intensive universities in Australia for student satisfaction and graduate distinctions. In this next cycle we will continue our investment in student facilities and accommodation, new research facilities for molecular and life sciences and additional amenities for our Arts and Social Sciences. Overseas we anticipate growing our investments in Dubai and Hong Kong and putting in new facilities in both locations.”
