Mid year graduation ceremonies poised to begin
More than 1200 students are set to graduate from UOW this month, with ceremonies from 23-25 July.
UOW will play host to about 4,000 people (of whom 1200 will be graduands) for the mid year graduation ceremonies being held from Wednesday 23 July to Friday 25 July.
Six ceremonies will be held over the course of the three days. The morning ceremonies begin at 9.45 and the afternoon ceremonies begin at 2.30 with all the ceremonies being held in the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp Hall.
UOW has always strongly advocated that students, where possible, should gain some international experience as part of their degree.
A growing number have become exchange students including Emily King who will graduate at the morning ceremony on 25 July with a Bachelor of Communications and Media Studies. Her double major has been in International Media and Communications and Marketing Communications and Advertising.
Emily went looking for a unique experience while studying and found it on the other side of the world 16,000km away at Karlstad ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp in Sweden.
She said the people she met along the way made her exchange experience the best three months of her life.
“I found the whole exchange gave me a global perspective which was vital for my degree. I learnt a lot about how others study and perceive the world.”
In fact, so inspirational was her trip that Emily has decided to take up a job offer with Greenpeace based in Hamburg, Germany. She hasn’t ruled out undertaking further studies while living in Germany.
In between her overseas exchange, Emily has been part of UOW’s Management Cadet Program over the past five years undertaking a whole range of administrative duties mainly in the area of digital media communications within Strategic Marketing and Communications.
More than 500 students at UOW participated in semester exchange or short course programs in 2013 alone.
