Leon Davis-Cook will represent Australia in the snowboard competition in Torino, Italy

ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp of ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp student Leon Davis-Cook, 19, has been selected to represent Australia at the in Torino, Italy.

Leon will travel to Europe in the New Year ready to compete in the Games, from 13 to 26 January. Participation in the Games is self-funded by the athletes and Leon is fund-raising to pay his way there.

A Snowboard Cross athlete, Leon has represented Australia for the past two years on the Europa Cup circuit and was a member of the Snow Australia Emerging Talent program. He recently completed his first year of a .

“Representing your country at any level is the goal of all athletes and I am honoured to have been given this opportunity, not only to represent Australia but also to fly the flag for the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp of ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp,” Leon said.

Leon is one of 19 athletes selected to represent Australia at the Games. He is an Alumni of the Illawarra Academy of Sport (IAS), and in 2023 was awarded the prestigious IAS Leadership Athlete of the Year Award.

Leon learnt to ski, snowboard and cross-country ski through the Illawarra Alpine Club, a ski club with a lodge in Smiggins Holes in the Snowy Mountains.
